So, this exercise in data crunching comes from Zippia, which collected this information using Google trends from November 2019. Their method involved taking a look at Google searches for popular side dishes and seeing what was being searched for recipes, and broke down the searches by state.
Now, they’ve made some… Interesting decisions about what constitutes a side (I don’t know why the fuck “gravy” is a separate side from mashed potatoes, what heathens would do that), but this is their data, please don’t put your ire on me:
