The Annual Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake was held Monday, May 26th in Gloucester, England. If you’re unfamiliar, the event has become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to social media clips and photos.
The sport? Each year a 9-pound round of Double Gloucester Cheese is sent rolling down a 200-yard, 26.6-degree hill. Competitors then race down the incline after the block of cheese. First to catch it, is the winner.
1826 was the first recorded cheese-rolling event, although it likely dates farther back.
