Application processing = the Chive Charities staff checks out all the applications and makes sure they match our requirements and abilities

Grant selection = (The part where we cry a lot in the boardroom) With around $400,000 to award each quarter from our monthly donors, Chive Charities’ board and staff select the grants we will be moving forward with, keeping our budget in mind

Grant processing = we fill all selected recipients in on the good news – they’ve been accepted! Their grants and stories will be fulfilled over the next 3-months-ish period. Depending on the need and budget, we may fulfill some grants far before their story appears on theCHIVE.

Grant fulfillment – We cross the T’s and dot the I’s on all grants prior to making final purchases for all recipients.

Story – (That’s me, hi!) We know, and I know especially from the comments, that our donors care deeply about the recipients they help. That’s why we dive deep into the lives of our recipients and their families, and why I write these stories — because you guys deserve to know about the lives you are changing with your donations.

We can’t broadcast a majority of these processes to the world because these situations are so delicate. As much as we want to share each small victory or heartbreak with you guys along the way, we know we have to wait until everything is set and certain.

While every once in a while we have amazing donors who are able to give us thousands of dollars at a time, that’s not how the majority of our applicants receive help; the magic happens when our monthly donors contribute to the pool of money we have to work with.

The more donors we have, the more people we are able to help. It’s as simple as that.
