Hulk Hogan dead at 71, and our hearts are feeling the leg drop
Just a day ago we were mourning the loss of Ozzy Osbourne, and today we learn reports of another Herculean loss…
According to TMZ Sports, WWE Hall of Famer Terry ‘Hulk Hogan‘ Bollea has passed away at the age of 71. Allegedly medics responded to a reported “cardiac arrest” at Bollea’s Clearwater home early this morning (July 24). Sources with knowledge of the situation told TMZ Sports that several police vehicles and EMTs were parked outside the wrestling legend’s home and he was reported to be carried out on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
It might be easy for some to scoff at the Hulkster’s fame in the wrestling world, along with his numerous lukewarm received film & TV appearances. But that would be entirely unfair, and inaccurate. Hulk Hogan was a bigger than life force of nature who defined multiple generations of wrestling fan lore. He played both the hero and the heel, and nobody got a crowd more amped up than this legend. Hulkamania wasn’t just a catch-phrase, it was a way of life.
I’m deeply saddened to hear the somber news, and I wish his family and all his friends, family and adoring fans better days ahead. This feels kinda like a chair to the back right now. It shouldn’t be allowed. We all lost something truly great today.
