Back in the 1990s and 2000s, Hollywood was downright obsessed with turning old, beloved TV shows into theatrical movies.
Results varied. The Brady Bunch Movie, Mission: Impossible, and Starsky and Hutch were hits. The Beverly Hillbillies and Leave it to Beaver were not.
At the time, it seemed like the movie industry had remade every last ancient sitcom and action show. But there were plenty of TV series that everybody liked which nobody ever got around to turning into movies.
We’ll probably never get to see these movie versions of TV shows, because they never got off the ground.
