St. Paddy’s Day is right around the corner, so I decided to help y’all ease into the spirit. That’s St. PaDDy’s Day — spelled with double Ds. I made a gallery similar to this around four years ago and called it “St. Patty’s Day” — spelled with double Ts. Immediately, a Leprechaun slid down a rainbow and headbutted me square in the dick. The next day I got a letter from 23andMe informing me that the 27.8 percent Irish in my blood had been revoked (I nearly died from blood loss but I no longer freckle as easily). Why is spelling it with Ts so wildly incorrect? Turns out Patrick is derived from the old Irish name Padraig, or Paddy for short. Patty is actually short for Patricia. So there ya go.
