I don’t have any tattoos, but I always considered getting one in kanji that goes like this: 呉爾羅 (look it up, it’ll be very clear what this is). But I’ve never gone through with it, mostly because kanji tattoos are tricky, because if you mis-tattoo the symbol, it changes the meaning completely. Plus, I don’t speak or read Japanese.
And neither do most of the subjects of these stories, who got kanji tattoos in Japanese or Chinese without fully understanding what they had (or, in some cases, knew exactly what they had).
