Have you ever had a time in your life where you feel like the universe is aligning itself against you and you just don’t know where to turn? There’s a constant pit in your stomach and everything you know to be true gets flipped upside down. Anxiety turns to desperation and you just want to throw your arms up and scream. Let’s just call this state “the trenches.”
At Chive Charities, almost every recipient we talk to alludes to being in the trenches at some point or another. Most of them, in fact, have been there for years. A Marine loses multiple brothers in arms during a tour in Afghanistan and can’t make sense of life after returning home. A 9-1-1 operator experiences second-hand trauma by fielding unimaginable calls day in and day out. A teenager loses use of all her senses, seemingly overnight, and is trapped in her own body with no way to communicate. These are the orphaned causes of the world. And this is why Chive Charities exists – to lift the overlooked causes out of those dark places and give them hope.
