Beeple made headlines the world over in March when one of his artworks resold as an NFT for $69 million (the artist himself had originally sold it for $66,666.66). NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are unique files that live on a blockchain and are able to verify ownership of a work of digital art.
The digital artist’s work is some of the weirdest stuff out there. It ranges from shocking body horror pieces of Winnie-the-Pooh to more classic sci-fi with giant mechs or monsters looming over people made tiny in comparison. His now-infamous NFT piece was a mosaic of his first 5,000 works.
Experts are calling him one of the top three most valuable artists alive today. Here’s a look into the strange and fascinating mind of Beeple.
