Alright, first things first.
What exactly is an “idiom?”
An idiom is a phrase or expression whose meaning cannot be understood from the literal definition of its individual words. That is to say, they usually describe something completely different than what you would imagine based on the words used.
Idioms also tend to have culturally specific origins, making them challenging for non-native speakers of the language to understand.
